Ben's Welcome Message

Ben ThompsonWe treasure you as a subscriber to the Thompson Times. Chances are that you are a past client of Thompson Remodeling and we truly enjoy working for you and your families. Thank you for reading and forwarding this enewletter to your friends.

There are just a few spots we have to fill in our production schedule before the holidays and I'm taking appointments now for work to begin January 1st. Your referrals are the outreaches that actually keep our guys busy and we need your help. We need you to tease your neighbors, co-workers, and friends by exposing them to your beautiful homes and shamelessly promoting our design/build services. Thank you for your heightened awareness and intensified action in this time of economic uncertainty for our country.

Warmly,

Ben Thompson

5 Projects for Fall

There are 5 projects that you need to do this Fall. Ben talked through them recently on West Michigan's Morning News with Gary Allen and you can listen to the podcast of that interview here. (Interview #1474)

1) Investigate how the $1500 2009 Energy Tax Credit can benefit you (click here). Other items you can do to save energy: a) Walk around your home and close and lock all your windows (I guarantee you'll find at least 5 not properly latched); b) Raise your energy awareness by reviewing the last 12 months of your energy bills; c) Consider an energy audit to show you how much and where your house is losing energy. Call me about this: 616-942-1866

2) Leaf management: Make and execute a plan to make sure your gutters, lawn, perimeter of your home, and especially the air intake for your furnace stay leaf-free. Restricted air flow by way of dirty furnace filters and leaves in the air intakes are two of the most common avoidable causes for furnace repair so save yourself $250.

3) Air-Seal: Caulk & Foam the holes in your home by doing a visual inspection of your home. Look wherever there is a penetration (i.e. the water faucets and while you're there unhook your hoses for the winter) and also look for areas along the "band-joist" where the concrete foundation and the 1st floor of your home meet. For more advanced steps I can pair you with an excellent insulation & air sealing contractor so give me a call.

4) Store your stuff: Have you ever noticed how stuff multiplies? Having kids has taught me that. Now is the perfect time to clean your garage & basement. Sell stuff on Craigslist or donate it to Goodwill and the Salvation Army. This will make you feel great and give you room to store your "outdoor" furniture indoors... Michigan, the only place in the world you have to do this!

5) Paint something: Every home has something that needs to be painted. Walk around and you'll see something. If you have doubts, call me and I'll point some out and then solve the problem for you. If we do this and I can't find anything, I'll buy lunch! The big thing with exterior painting is making sure the night temperatures stay above 50 degrees so act fast on this project.
