Every year we like to share the news when color authority, Pantone announces the color of the year. Their choice is always carefully chosen to reflect what’s happening in the world and this was first year in their 23-year history where they decided to create a brand-new shade rather than choosing one of their existing colors.
Described as a friendly blue hue with a violet red undertone, this periwinkle blue is said to encourage a joyful attitude that will inspire creativity and expression. Pantone felt this color would be the right shade to open us while living in a world filled with constant change and after long periods of isolation.
Each year, the experts at Pantone carefully study a wide variety of influences around the world before arriving at their final selection. They will look at popular travel destinations, art, fashion, movies, and all areas of design, as well as lifestyle and socio-economic conditions.
