The holidays are upon us! This is one of my favorite times of year. I love seeing the Christmas lights and checking out some of the holiday festivities around town with friends and family. If you are looking for something fun to do with the family, there’s a lot of great options in Grand Rapids. Here are some ideas to consider that will be fun for adults and kids of all ages.

Elf the Musical. This must watch family Christmas movie has been adapted into a musical and is being performed at The Grand Rapids Civic Theater through December 22nd.

The Nutcracker. The Grand Rapids Ballet is performing The Nutcracker accompanied by The Grand Rapids Symphony at the DeVos Performance Hall December 13-15 & 20-22.

Coopersville Santa Train. Head out to the Cooperstown & Marne Railway and take a 90-minute train ride in a vintage passenger car while waiting for a visit from Santa and his elves. Rides are Saturday & Sundays through Dec 22 and they sell out quickly.

Ice Skating. Looking to get some exercise while having some fun? Head over to Rosa Parks Circle for some ice skating.

Metro Health Christmas & Holiday Traditions. Take a trip to Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park and enjoy the lights, carols of the season, and displays of 46 international trees. Open through January 5th.

Christmas Light Show. Gather everyone, pile in the car and head out to Fifth Third Ballpark to see Michigan’s largest holiday lights display.

We hope you will find something that your family will enjoy.  Happy Holidays from Thompson Remodeling!
