Basement Remodels Designed for Family Gathering

2020 has been the year of sheltering, working, and learning at home. Our family and living rooms are getting a lot of use and finding the space to do all of the things that we are now needing to do at home can be a challenge. If you are fortunate to have a finished basement or lower level, it can help provide additional spaces for studying, watching tv, playing games, or crafting.

In today's blog we are going to highlight two basements and one lower level remodel projects that were customized to provide a variety of functional areas for families to gather. As you will see through the before and after photo comparisons, they were pretty amazing transformations. 

The Evolution of a Family Hang Out Space




This family’s basement had become a catch-all space and was sorely underutilized. Although it was spacious, the current layout wasn’t working. The homeowners wanted to transform this space from closed and dreary to open and inviting.

Thompson Remodeling really enjoyed working with this Grand Rapids family to remodel their basement into a family space where they could showcase their favorite sports memorabilia and other memories from their home state of Maryland.

Lakeside Lower Level Retreat





With a beautiful home on the lake, you can expect to see a lot of your family and friends in the summer and fall seasons.  Our clients were looking forward to hosting parties and get-togethers in their lower level with direct access to the lake, but they wanted to make some updates to the space.
