Remodeling Selections with a Luxury Look for Less

The selections you make for your remodeling project have a direct impact on your overall budget for the project. Two bathroom remodels of the same exact size and layout can vary in cost by the thousands or tens of thousands based on the selections and finishes that are used. This is why making selections within your budget is so important, but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or luxury. There are some great budget-friendly alternatives out there today that mimic the look of more expensive finishes. If you are looking for ways to keep your budget in-line consider some of these options when making your remodeling selections.

    1. Vinyl flooring instead of hardwood flooring. If you haven’t purchased flooring in a while, you will be amazed at the vinyl options available today. You can find it with a hand-scraped finish with the grooves and texture you would expect from real wood. Besides being a cost effective option, it’s also much easier to maintain and clean than a real wood floor.

    1. Porcelain tile instead of hardwood flooring. Another fantastic option for a wood-look floor is porcelain tile. This is especially a great in the kitchen or bathroom, where wood would be less practical.
    2. Large format tile in place of marble slab. If you love the look of an expansive marble floor or shower surround, a great alternative is large format tile. Large pieces of marble are very expensive and you can achieve a very similar look by using a large format tile designed to look like marble.
    3. Stainless steel finish instead of stainless steel. Stainless steel is the top pick for appliances and its not surprising since it looks so great in all types of spaces from traditional to modern. But, it can be expensive and it also shows fingerprints, which can become impossible to keep up with in households with children. Selecting appliances with a stainless steel finish will be friendlier on the wallet and won’t show all those fingerprints.
    4. Quartz countertops in place of granite. Quartz has been gaining popularity on granite for years now. It’s extremely durable, available in all sorts of patterns and colors and is virtually maintenance free. It also has a leg up on granite since it is scratch, stain and heat resistant.
